The Santa Monica Expo Line is Almost Here

Could Angelenos finally join the ranks of citizens other metropolitan cities and leave their cars at home? The city definitely hopes so and recently released more details on the new Metro Expo Line running between Downtown LA and Santa Monica. Think of the possibilities: you could get brunch by the beach, soak in some sun and have dinner near Downtown all in one day. And without even getting into your car, where most Angelenos spend around 90 hours a year stuck in traffic.

Train testing has begun although not without a few hitches. Earlier this week, an accident occurred on Colorado and 7th ave when the train collided with a semi truck.

But like any new project in the city, there are bound to be some problems to begin with. Photos and drawings of the Expo Line in the official report champion it as a vehicle for the modern citizen, a sleek vehicle that everyone will want to take instead of being cooped up in their cars. Time will tell if the new line will change the city's commuting habits.

The Expo Line should be ready to ride around April or May of 2016.
